 Smart Freedom

What if you could offer a simple and affordable energy management solution to all your commercial customers and residential customers with larger power bills? Now you can.

The smart building / smart home market is now inundated with an extensive array of affordable Smart and IoT devices, and the demand for these innovative technologies is rising. However, the challenge lies in the fact that most systems do not offer full functionality and integration. As a result, end users find themselves juggling multiple apps and struggling to configure them effectively. Installers/electricians often don’t have the time or knowledge to fully configure these products to get the best results and to integrate the new technologies with the existing systems.

What if you could mix and match Shelly, Wiser, Brilliant Smart, Kogan Smart, Fibaro, Yale, and Windsor Smart for your commercial automation and smart home customers? Now you can.

What if you could also connect to traditional alarm sensors and access control e.g. mag locks, door strikes, gates, etc? Now you can.

Or, if you are starting with a more sophisticated control system such as KNX, what if you could add wireless smart lighting and electrical control, energy management and monitoring to these projects? Now you can.

Our team is here to help you deliver these solutions to your customers.

Here’s how it works:

Getting started

  1. Make a time to meet us and experience the system in action with your team - ideally, a visit to one of our showrooms, but an online video call to our showroom is also available.
  2. We create a Location for you in the App and Web App for all your staff to access. There is product information and you can add any of the compatible products to this - nothing better than first-hand experience.
  3. We train a few of your team the process to install and enrol a few common products from the different compatible systems, so they know what's required to get them online where we (or one of your team) can configure them and set up the app and logics.

I have a customer

  1. You or the customer buys the Smart IoT licence and we set up the new Location, which can be a business premise or a home, apartment, batch, school, farm, boat or RV.
  2. You buy and install the compatible products in the usual way and enroll them into the install Apps and test on/off is working
  3. Three options for the configuration of the App pages, User views and logic:
    • We can interact with the customer and do all the configuration
    • You interact with the customer and tell us how you want it set up
    • We can train you to do the configuration - as it is Web-based you can do it from anywhere with a browser.

I’m not sure if my customer needs full integration

So long as they choose compatible products they can always start off just using the free apps that come with most of the compatible products, but the path to a fully integrated system is available to them in the future.

What are the most common systems people want?

Energy saving, Smart heating and cooling, Smart EV charging, Solar and battery management are all really topical items we can address.

Smart access control with alarm and CCTV integration is also high on many people’s minds.

When requirements go beyond one or 2 things integrating them into Smartlife Connect can be a real benefit to the organisation or family. Adding lighting control, fans, motorised blinds and drapes, background audio and A/V control with the benefits of advanced notifications, in-app chat and shared lists and warranty are also compelling.

Business customers

Most businesses and commercial customers want at least to be seen to be green, and everyone likes to save money on their electricity bill.

Adding an affordable Shelly Energy meter to the DB and to the larger energy loads such as HVAC and other heating systems, hot water, freezers and fridges, Hi-Bays, industrial heating and other equipment is a great start.

  • Baseline energy usage and CO2 generated from that usage
  • Understand peak loading
  • Understand building capacity, especially if EV charging is being considered
  • Profile the benefits of Solar and/or Batteries

The next step is typically to install some control of the variable loads such as HVAC and sometimes hot water, freezers and automation to turn off unused devices after hours. By pre-heating HVAC for example we can utilise cheaper and cleaner offpeak energy as well as reducing peak line charges with huge savings. Typically 10% to 30% reductions.

SME business customers also like our Access Control system that enables all employees to have access when authorised - no giving out codes or key tags - everything is logged in the app and it is easy to disable them when required.

Residential customers

These same energy-saving solutions are popular, especially for larger homes with higher power bills. By controlling heat pumps, ducted heating, underfloor heating, EV chargers and pools and shifting these loads to offpeak times where possible and/or optimising solar we see savings of 10% to 30% which provides a great financial return as well as reducing CO2 from energy at peak times.

Other things people love:

  • Integrating gate, garage door, door lock and alarm into one app and having better control of who has access and when
  • Simple things like being able to open the Yale lock from the intercom
  • Being able to control devices from the live camera view - operating gates and garage doors remotely is much safer and you can also disable the alarm, and turn on the lights.
  • The flexibility to use many different types of lighting and electrical control products such as Wiser, Brilliant, Shelly, KNX, and Fibaro.

And yes, we can integrate TV control, multi-room audio and surround sound too.

Next steps

Bring the team and join us at our showroom for a laid-back session over drink. Take advantage of our training program, allowing 1 or 2 of your team members to dedicate 2 hours to mastering the enrollment and wiring of energy meters, A/C control, and hot water control – sought-after solutions that have been successfully implemented in hundreds of installations. Upon completion, your team members will earn certification as installers.

The best part? Throughout January, this certification is offered at no cost. Schedule a session to bring your team and discover the possibilities.

Embrace the future of Smart IoT solutions with us, unlocking new revenue opportunities for your business.

How secure is smart home technology?

Security is important, which is why Smartlife solutions are built with security front of mind. Your data and personal information is private and secure. Smartlife solutions include options to easily control and change who has access to your house through the App, great for friends and Airbnb. When you’re away, if something happens such as a smoke alarm, burglar alarm, flood alarm, freezing temperature or excessive heat you can receive a notification, open your App to view what is happening in real-time, then deal with it promptly.

Will smart home products work without having strong WiFi?

If you are considering incorporating smart home products into your new home, we would recommend that you consider installing a WiFi mesh system to best support the function of the smart home products.

Can smart home automation save money?
  • About 39% of the energy used by the average home goes towards heating and cooling. Smart home solutions can save customers an average of 23% on their combined heating and cooling costs.
  • Smart lighting solutions use at least 65% less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs yet last 25 times longer.
  • Smart home market research suggests that consumers with smart security systems reduce the likelihood of their homes being burgled or suffering from costly fire or water damage issues. This also reflects in their home insurance rates. On average, you can get up to a 20% reduction in your home insurance rates if you install monitored safety devices and smart security systems.
  • According to connected home market size and survey data, 57% of smart home device users say they save time every day. They say these devices save them an average of almost 30 minutes every day.
What products are compatible?

Smartlife Connect is compatible with a wide range of products including:

Alexa Voice Control

Amazon Echo Dot 4th Gen Glacier White with AlexaAmazon Echo Show 8 2nd Gen Charcoal, , hi-res

Control any of the connected devices via Alexa.

From the Connect Web App you can configure voice commands to run any logic item.

Digital Door Locks

Digital door locks in the App make access control easy for everyone. People love the fact that we can also control the alarm and the gate from the one app. If you are running late you can unlock the door, unset the alarm and even turn some lights on for your visitor.

Please note:

  • Yale Assure, 3109+ and 4109+ require the appropriate Z-Wave interface module installed in the lock and a Smartlife Hub (any model) with a Z-Wave Stick (installed in Hub or via a USB over Cat extender to within 5m of the door lock).

  • Windsor Smart Locks require a Bluetooth module.

Smart Security - Alarm and Access Control
